Waters of North Sulawesi (Sulawesi), including the Bunaken National Park area has big potential to be the main objective of nautical tourism (marine tourism) of the world.
"During this time, North Sulawesi has become one of the main tourist destinations in Indonesia and we promote on the world stage," said Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Wardiatmo, in Jakarta, Tuesday (17 / 3).
According to him, North Sulawesi, with all sorts of potential sea can become the main destination of the world marine tourism. Bunaken, North Sulawesi, which has a marine park to be excellent diving world for divers and the world.
"In North Sulawesi, including Bunaken, Lembeh Straits and its surrounding areas there are about 54 point dive amazing," he said.
In the waters were a variety of tropical fish and coral reefs grow. Even recently Lembeh Strait region, along Bunaken National Marine Park and Aquatic Likupang proposed as a "Marine World Heritage Site" according to "North Sulawesi, Tourist Guide".
Meanwhile, Head of Marine and Fisheries Research Agency Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Gellwynn Joseph, said ahead of North Sulawesi waters in the region designed to emulate Australia and the Caribbean.
"Marine tourism is growing in Australia and capable of producing one billion dollars per year while in the Caribbean from the same sector generated 9 billion U.S. dollars," he said.
Also, invest in the development of tourism in North Sulawesi region are also highly expected because the area was inhabited by around 120 million people whose lives depend on the level of quality and natural resources.
"It's also about sustainability and food security needs and the people directly," he said.
