Pelebon Agung Puri Ubud 2008 Pictures

Pelebon Agung Puri Ubud 2008 that was held yesterday was so awesome. The Pelebon Agung of Tjokorda Gede Agung Suyasa as well known as Cok Lingsir was crowded with so many people both from Balinese and International tourists that wish to witness this grand event. Every eyes were focused on the 28.5 meters or nine stories tall Bede that was being carried to setra (burial site) Banjar Tebesaya, Peliatan, Ubud.

The Bade that carries layon (the deceased body, if I’m not mistaken) left Puri Ubud at 13.30 Central Indonesia Time. In front of the Bade was a convoy of Kings from all around Indonesia. Some members of the convoy were the Royal Family of Keraton (kingdom) Surakarta. Followed by a small Lembu Hitam (Black Ox) convoy, and behind it a bigger Lembu Hitam convoy. On top of that ox stood the crown prince of Puri Ubud, Tjokorda Ngurah Suyadnya familiarly known as Cok Wah.

Behind the Ox was the Naga Banda and a smaller nine stories Bade. The Bade with Cok Lingsir’s body was much bigger than this one. The smaller Bade carried the deceased body of Cokorda Raka, a member of Puri Ubud who works as a Police.

Behind it stood tall the Bade which carried Cok Lingsir’s body. The bade was carried by 250 Ubud citizen and the kingdom servants. Cokorda Raka Kerthayasa familiarly known as Cok Ibah, Cokorda Putra Sukawati the one who will replace Cok Lingsir position in Puri Ubud, Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardana Sukawati (Gianyar mayor), and Cokorda Budi Suryawan who just lost in the Bali governor ellection stood at the Bade.

Before heading to the cremation site located 1 Km from Puri Saren Ubud, the ceremony was started with the releasing and archering the Naga Banda. Ida Pedanda from Griya Aan Klungkung was the one who lead the ceremony. After the archery the Naga Banda’s tail was then tied three times behind the bade which had a bedawang nala (turtles) under it.

The grand ceremony was puput by Ida Pendada Selat Duda Karangasem. Until yesterday evening, layon of Cok Lingsir were still being cremated at the cemetary. The next stage, the ash of Cok Lingsir will be floated at Matahari Terbit Sanur beach, Denpasar.
