The Most Beautiful Lake in Indonesia : Danau Laut Tawar

Danau Laut Tawar or Laut Tawar lake is one of tourist attractions in Indonesia. With two hills that flank the lake, you can see the beautiful scenery and feel the romantic  situation. That's why this lake become a pride of people who live around it.
 
Location:
Laut Tawar Lake is a lake and tourist area in Dataran Tinggi Gayo, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, Indonesia. The extent of approximately 5472 hectares with a length of 17 km and width of 3.219 km. The volume of water is approximately 2,537,483,884 m³ (2.5 trillion liters)
How to Reach:
Access to the Takengon more easily accessed through the City of Bireuen. There is a small terminal where gather minibus transportation called "elf", specifically to Takengon. It will take you about 5 hours.
Other alternative can also be reached via Blang Kejeren and Kutacane.

Accommodation:
There is one motor boat used to carry passengers around the lake.  
And you can easily find  places of accommodation for tourists who want to spend the night at that location.

What you can do:
Fishing, Swimming, Mingle with the local community or just Sight seeing around the lake.

What you can find and buy:
Some of commodity grown in this place are: the Gayo coffee (coffee arabica, which is very famous in Japan), potatoes, passion fruit, tomatoes, peppers, corn, and vegetables. You can also buy delicious fruit like Jeruk Keprok Gayo (Gayo tangerine) and avocados.

You can find only in this place:
There is a folklore about a kind of fish named Depik fish. Shaped like a slender ornamental fish with glistening white scales. Very small fish. The size only similar with your thumbs. And they're only found in this lake. People said, depik derived from rice grains are discharged into the lake. They will come to the surface at certain seasons, especially during the rainy season. 

Before the season arrives, crowds of depik hiding in the south of the lake, at the foot of Mount Bur Kelieten. Depik is a gift from God to the people Gayo, although continuously consumed, they've never runs out.
