Saman Dance

Aceh province is much influenced by the Islamic culture. Hence the traditional art such as folk songs and dances mostly represent the love and the thankful to God. One of the most famous traditional dance from Aceh is Saman dance.

Saman dance is the development of the art of dance, which originally was called “Pok pok Ane” is singing a poem to the accompaniment of clapping hands, pat his chest and thigh slap. Then by Sheikh Saman Pok pok Ane art is altered and embellished with various variations.

Saman dance was born arround XIV century, until today is still growing and still in its original form and the dance that has become well-known abroad with the name "Thousand hands". The dance created and developed by an Islamic religious leader called Sheikh Saman, so the name of the dance similar (synonyms) a creator himself.

An ensemble of men and women, perfectly lined up in a row, their arms weaving complex patterns as the tempo quickens. The Saman Dance show is usually done at night.

Saman dance is usually done at home, field, and some that use the stage. Saman dance was originally performed to celebrate noble occasions, big day, wedding, holidays, as well as to celebrate the birth of Nabi Muhammad S.A.W.

Seudati Dance

Seudati Dance is the name of the dance which originated from Nangroe Aceh Darussalam province or Aceh, Indonesia.

Some experts say Seudati derived from the word Syahadatain, and there is also a word that comes from sahadati (Arabic).

Seudati danced by eight men as the main dancer, consisted of one leader called a Sheikh, Sheikh one assistant, two assistants on the left called Apeetwie, one person behind the maid called Apeet tub, and three assistants normal. In addition, there are two singers as a dance accompanist called Aneuk Syahi.

The type of dance does not use the instrument, but only brought a few movements, like clapping hands to the chest and hips, stomping feet on the ground and the passage of a finger. Movement to the rhythm and tempo of the song that was sung.

Several movements are quite dynamic and lively with great enthusiasm. However, there are some movements that seemed stiff, but actually shows strength and valor of the dancers. In addition, clapping his hands to his chest and stomach at the same time imposing warrior pride.

Seudati’s cloth consisting of long pants and long sleeve T-shirts, both white; Songket wrapped around the thighs and waist length; Rencong inserted at the waist; Tangkulok (headband), which tied a red head and a handkerchief colored. Dress uniform is only for the main players. The most important parts of the dance consists of Seudati likok (force; dance), Saman (melodies), rhythmic agility, and story telling of the story of heroism, historical and religious themes.

There has been no mention of the source who first created the seudati this. Perhaps by history experts, is estimated seudati is created by the ulama to release the spare exhaustion after the battle for the next war.

Gapang Beach

Gapang Beach is an unique beach, with white sand halfway around the bay, surrounded by large overhanging trees; the 'Gapang' trees. So you can choose to sit on the beach in the sun, or in the shade of these grand old trees.

With a great house reef in front of the diveshop and a couple of resident turles living in the bay, it's a perfect place for snorkeling and long relaxed shore dives.

Weh Island

Weh Island is about 32 km from Banda Aceh, capital of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam Province. This Island mostly called as Sabang Island, is also known as the westernmost island of Sumatra, Indonesia. Around this island there are beaches with a natural charm that is so beautiful. Sabang (Weh Island) was a popular tourism destination in Indonesia.

Sabang is rich of events, attraction and unique cultures that it will fascinate anyone. Sabang is also rich in natural beauty, waves and sea garden, which is suitable for diving. Weh Island has the privilege of a variety tourist attraction to visit. There are Gapang beach and also Iboih beach. The green ocean color of Iboih featuring the beautiful scenery.

From Iboih beach will be obvious beauty panoramic of Rubiah Island which is about 150 meters. Rumbia Island most famous for its beautiful marine park. Rumbia Island is special because has a diversity of marine biota, such as plants, algae, coral reefs, fish, chicken feathers, and coconut crabs.

From some beaches on Weh Island, Gapang Beach is one of the beaches most visited by domestic tourist or foreign. Stretch of white sandy beaches that are still clean a typical of Gapang beach. From shore, try to feel the freshness of the sea breeze.
